4th of July Country Fair-Themed Party in Sarajevo

Last night, we celebrated America’s 241st birthday by doing something a bit different.  We decided to take a more casual approach to our Independence Day party this year, creating a traditional Country Fair with all the elements our friends from BiH needed to enjoy a real American experience.  Fairs like this take place across our country every summer, and are an important part of American culture because they bring people from all walks of life together – with no regard for the divisions that too often keep us apart – to enjoy exhibits, games, music, contests, food, and crafts. So last night, as a sign of our close ties and long-standing friendship with the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we’ve asked our guests to join us for some good, old-fashioned fun, and become part of our community.

Addressing our guests last night, Ambassador Cormack said: “The greatness of an event like this is that it brings together people from all walks of life, with no regard for the divisions that too often divide society.  From brave young people to senior citizens, from government leaders to opposition, from entrepreneurs to academics, journalists to musicians.  But all of you here tonight have one thing in common:  the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina… In the year ahead, I hope each and every one of you will work hard every day to keep freedom and progress alive and well for Bosnia and Herzegovina. But for tonight, let’s have fun!”

And we all had awesome time :D!
