Ambassador Cormack Visits “Bosnian and Herzegovinian Voices” Exhibit in Washington

Ambassador Cormack visits The Phillips Collection exhibit

This March, while in Washington, Ambassador Cormack visited The Phillips Collection and the exhibit of artwork created by aspiring artists, students and teachers from BiH.

Last fall, the Phillips Collection partnered with U.S. Department of State to facilitate a series of workshops in BiH. Phillips Collection educators spent two weeks in Sarajevo, Mostar and Trebinje, working with emerging artists, elementary and high school students, educators and museum professionals from all over the country. Using Jacob Lawrence’s “Migration Series” as a catalyst for conversation about the power of collaboration and storytelling through art, participants created visual narratives that were important to them.

This exhibition present a selection of artwork from the workshops, as well as artwork produced through an “Artful Exchange” between elementary and middle school students in BiH and Washington, DC.
