The U.S. is committed to helping Srebrenica, noted Ambassador Maureen Cormack during her first visit to Srebrenica and Potocari on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.  “One of my  highest priorities in the  first weeks in Bosnia and Herzegovina was to come here and pay respects to the victims of genocide and all the innocent victims” said Ambassador Cormack after visiting the Potocari Memorial Center with families of victims.  Following a meeting with the Mothers of Srebrenica, she said that hearing about their individual tragedies was very emotional for her.  The Ambassador underscored that she is hopeful the future will be marked by tolerance, compassion, and  cooperation among citizens as the country prepares to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide.  Ambassador Cormack also visited the recently renovated Srebrenica Primary School and met with the mayor and deputy mayor of Srebrenica to discuss preparations for the commemoration.
