Honoring the day of community service in memory of Martin Luther King, Jr., Ambassador Cormack joined young people from East Sarajevo and Sarajevo who spent a day volunteering at the Senior Living Facility in East Sarajevo.
Ambassador Cormack stressed that the event highlights one of the most important aspects of a democracy – the role of civil society: people taking care of people and helping their fellow citizens for the common good. She also announced the beginning of a year-long challenge to engage 20,000 volunteers in community service projects throughout BiH, and encouraged all citizens of this country to accept the challenge to lend a helping hand and volunteer in their communities, as such civic activism builds the foundation for cooperation and reconciliation while providing services that benefit everyone in BiH.
