The U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina support and facilitate a variety of exchange programs to the United States at the high school, undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, and professional levels.
Participants develop:
Since 2000, over 1,500 students, scholars, and professionals from Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in U.S. Embassy-supported exchange programs to the United States.

Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange & Study (YES) Program
This program offers scholarships for high school students to live and study in the United States up to one academic year. Students attend high school, live with host families, learn about American society and values, acquire leadership skills, and share insight in their countries and cultures.
Youth Leadership Program (YLP)
This is a nine-month program offering scholarships for high school students and teachers to study in the United States for about three weeks. Participants are hosted by American families and take part in community service activities and civic and leadership development. After returning to their hometowns, participants conduct projects to improve their communities.
Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD)
The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) offers undergraduate students one-semester scholarships for full-time study at accredited American colleges and universities, combined with community service, professional development workshops, and cultural enrichment activities.
Fulbright Foreign Student Program: Student Researcher
The Fulbright Foreign Student Program: Visiting Student Researcher program provides grants to graduate students to conduct full-time academic research at U.S. institutions of higher education for up to a full U.S. academic year.
The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program
This program provides grants to scholars and experienced professionals to lecture or to conduct postdoctoral research or a combination of the two at American colleges and universities for up to a full U.S. academic year.
Fulbright National Archives Heritage Science Fellowship
The Fulbright-National Archives Heritage Science Fellowship, a component of the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program, provides an opportunity for Fulbright visiting scholars to connect with National Archives scientists and experts while conducting research at the National Archives’ state-of-the-art Heritage Science Research and Testing Lab in College Park, Maryland. This Fellowship is made possible through a partnership between the U.S. Department of State and the National Archives and Records Administration. The award was established to support archival science education, conservation, and research.
Study in the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Scholars
This program brings mid-career scholars, faculty, and practitioners to the United States for six-week non-degree, programs to strengthen curricula and teaching about the United States in universities.
The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program
This program brings mid-career professionals with leadership ability and a dedication to public service to the United States for 10 months of non-degree, academic study and professional development in specific fields of study.
Online Professional English Network (OPEN) Program
The American English E-Teacher Program offers foreign English teaching professionals the opportunity to take innovative, online university-level classes and online professional development programming for teachers.

Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program
Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (Fulbright TEA) brings teachers to the United States for a six-week program that offers academic seminars for professional development at a host university. Participants observe classrooms and share their expertise with teachers and students at the host university and local secondary schools.
International Writing Program (IWP)
The International Writing Program (IWP) is an internationally known annual forum at the University of Iowa, which brings together emerging literary figures from around the world for a 12-week writer-in-residency program.
The Fulbright Specialist Program
This program offers universities, cultural centers, non-governmental organizations, and other institutions the opportunity to host leading U.S. academics or professionals to serve as expert consultants on curriculum, faculty development, institutional planning, and related subjects for two to six weeks.
