The Nonimmigrant Visa Unit provides services to those seeking to enter the United States for a temporary period. The purpose of this stay could be tourism, studies, work, practical training, or to work as an au pair etc.
The Immigrant Visa Unit provides services for those wishing to take up indefinite or permanent residence (“green card status”) in the United States.
American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit
American Citizen Services provide emergency and non-emergency services to U.S. citizens in BIH. Providing emergency services to U.S. citizens is the utmost priority of the Embassy.
Those services include assistance to American citizens who are incarcerated, have medical emergencies or become victims of crime, etc.
Non-emergency services include processing of passport and consular reports of birth abroad, voting assistance, notarial services, applications for social security numbers, etc.
