The second annual Embassy-sponsored Zajedno Postižemo Vise (Together We Achieve More) Hackathon competition took place December 2-4 in Banja Luka, with 60 participants from across the country. Supported by an ESF Civic Education grant and implemented in partnership with Banja Luka’s IT Cluster, the program brought together students and young entrepreneurs from across BiH, to develop web and mobile applications that will stimulate youth engagement and leadership in their communities. Ambassador Cormack opened the competition together with the Mayor of Banja Luka, announcing special awards for the best anti-corruption app. Students, mentors and organizers teamed up for nonstop innovation, collaboration, and competition. Hackathon alumni will now put their newfound skills to work leveraging technology to solve problems in their communities. Positive media coverage, especially from Republika Srpska-based media, was impressive, with leading BiH daily Oslobodjenje calling the Hackathon “the most important IT event of the year.”
