Chargé d’Affaires Paul Horowitz kicked off International Education Week 2016 with a group of 65 high school students at Obala Gimnazija in Sarajevo. The Chargé encouraged students to consider studying in the United States, where they can take advantage of the flexibility of the U.S. educational system, benefit from close interaction with professors, and serve as cultural ambassadors for Bosnia and Herzegovina. In total, Embassy Sarajevo’s celebration of IEW 2016 included over 20 outreach events in American Corners and schools in towns and cities across the country, as well as the launch of the new EducationUSA advising center in Tuzla. Around 590 students, teachers, professors and parents participated live or virtually in information sessions. In addition, all EducationUSA centers streamed The University of South Dakota’s webinar on choosing a U.S. university and CollegeWeekLive’s online free college fair.
