As we look back at 20 years of peace in BiH this year and forward to the opportunities and challenges ahead, we want to take a moment to highlight some of the remarkable people making a difference in their communities and their country with support from the U.S. Embassy. They’ve inspired us and hope their stories do the same for you.
In this first spotlight in the series, Sabiha Husić introduces Women’s Association “Medica,” an NGO that she has been working with to provide help and support to women and children since the association’s founding in April 1993. Sabiha became Director of Medica in 2007, and in November of 2014 she won the internationally recognized “Woman of the World” award from the women’s rights organization Women for Women for her dedication to creating meaningful social change in BiH. With support from the U.S. Embassy’s Women’s Empowerment Grant Program, Medica is continuing to expand its programs to improve the lives of more people.
